I'm not exactly a tall person but the on-the-door cupholder still hits me in
the knee. And why do you need 4 cupholders in a 2-seat car?

Gee, where are you from? One for your can of beer and another for your
cell phone, should you decide to take a short break from talking to go
look at the pedestrian you just hit.

And another two for your passenger. I can't actually think of a reason
why a passenger would want to lay down her cell phone for a moment,
but I am sure there are some. (Battery depleted? To store the spare
cell phone brought along in case the first one ran down its battery?)

Cup holders are very important when you are selling a sportscar, (I assume
that those in the S2000 were deficient, in view of the fact that they
apparently stopped making the ugly cars), and having one of four cupholders
prod the prospective buyer in the knee is a powerful reminder that they
are there and almost guarantees a sale.

My guess would be to meet rear impact requirements without adding
fortifications to strengthen a big hole.

May still be better than adding weight in my opinion, since I do not
carry golf clubs. But if I cannot carry four wheels with tires in
the car, it will be quite another matter.

Geez, you're right, Leon. Just *what* was I thinking?!

Although I could, perhaps, stash the 9mm in one of them as well.

My guess is that they did it so that we would sit around and wonder
about it and discuss it on r.a.m.m. :-)

Shucks, there's three more useless cupholders for that. Besides, if you
can't get the job done in one clip, more bullets aren't likely to help.

The way I drive my Miata, an open drink is a spilled drink, cupholder or
no. Anyone who needs *FOUR* of the damned things bought the wrong car.

Iva, a 9 mm ? That won't stop anyting ! A .45 is the only to go. (Just
the sound of the slide coming home will stop most action.) :-)

Way off topic, but way to go Bruce! I love the fact that a pistol
designed nearly 100 years ago, (the 1911 .45 auto), is still being used
by our elite special forces & S.W.A.T. Teams.
There are some designs that are just not easy to improve on if perfected
the first time. A certain car introduced by Mazda in 1989 comes to mind.

Well, the Glock fits my hands nicely. Now, our Walther PPK
is a nice small piece as well but it's not as comfortable as
the Glock. ;-)
