caliper movement
Are calipers supposed to move freely once it's fitted?
GM service manual says "The brake caliper should move easily within the brake caliper bracket" I'm not sure about this though...once the caliper bolts are tightened, I sure can't move the caliper! The same with the original fittings...they were real tight...more like rusted tight! Maybe the movement was so small that it's hard to notice? J. 98 Cav |

How was the wear on the old pads? If the wear was uneven on the inside
compared to the outside pad, you have caliper slide issues, if they wore down even, you are fine. The caliper slide bolts and the bracket slide the pads use should be greased with high temp brake grease. The old ones look real shiny, like it's made of metal... With the pads well off the rotor, the caliper does loosen up a little...so that's what it is... Thanks. |
