I'm on my way to work this morning, doing about 70 in a 65 in the right
lane. There is a minivan ahead of me, I'm about 3-4 seconds behind the red
minivan. Approaching my exit, a large white GM SUV thingie (I think it was
caddie?) comes screaming up the left lane from behind me and cuts in between
my car and the minivan. OK, so I'm closer to the SUV than I like so I hit
the brakes and start backing up, and my exit is coming up fast anyway. Then
the white SUV driver decides (she?) is going way too slow at 70 in a 65, so
(she?) proceeds to make a quick pass around the minivan and then darts
across two lanes in front of the minivan to barely make the same exit I'm
taking. As the SUV cuts in front of the minivan to take the exit, the
minivan's brake lights come on and I can see the front end of the minivan
dip. The minivan driver was apparently braking hard to avoid rear-ending
the white SUV.

So the minivan keeps going and I end up taking the exit and following the
white SUV. (not by choice, but the SUV happened to be going the same
direction I needed to go) The SUV is stuck in traffic for a while (nowhere
to pass). While I'm following the white SUV, it is apparently having a hard
time staying on the road. More than once, the right wheels of this white
SUV drifted all the way off the right lane so that they were riding in the
breakdown lane/shoulder area. As this is happening, the driver of the SUV
is doing something. I can't tell whether the driver is male or female, or
what (specifically) the driver is doing, but I *think* it was a female
fixing her hair or possibly applying makeup? In any case, it is apparent
that the driver couldn't do whatever he/she was doing AND drive in a
straight line.

I'm still not sure what type of white SUV it was other than it was obviously
GM and large, but it had NY vanity plates and the first 6 letters spelled
"MARCIA", so it will be easy to avoid in the future. I'm sure I will see it
again if it travels the same route frequently.

What is it about white Caddy SUV's (Escalade)? Yesterday, I had two
encounters,
neither particularly dangerous, but still.
1) White with 22" or so wheels, male driver, southbound I405 in Kirkland;
can't stand
the fact that the guy in front of me is doing 65 in 60, fairly heavy
traffic, I can't pass
to right and neither can the Caddy. Getting close to Bellevue, passes in
the carpool
lane, darts right across 4 lanes to exit at Bellevue NE 8th.
2) Another later that same drive, I90 eastbound to Issaquah, changing lanes
no signals,
eventually ends up in left-only exit lane with left turn signal on (finally
signaled!), 50 feet
back from stop line: lady with phone to left ear.
