While I did not see your post, I believe that I am suffering from the same
problem.

My X-3 has been in the shop for over 2 weeks now for a few things but the
service rep tells me that my rain sensor is functioning properly and he will
show me how to set it. According to my manual, you should be able to set it
once and forget about it however, several folks here have said that is not
how it works.

The reason for changing the topic -

The primary problem with my X-3 (that they can't fix) is my remotes don't
work after the car has been started until at least an hour passes after
shutdown.

This causes several problems for me.

First off, I am unable to set the alarm. Secondly, I must use the key to
manually lock the doors. Lastly, it's a pain in the ass to have to open the
door and reach in to open the other doors if I forget to unlock all the
doors before getting out of the car. That is to say, if I forget and try to
open the rear hatch, I have to reach in and open it from the dash. It has
been this way since day one.

Before I even left the lot, I noticed that the car would make a 'dinging'
noise when I opened the door after turning it off (like the lights were on
or the key was still in the ignition). The salesman told me that was
normal - all I can say to that is - I believe him to be a lying a-hole.

So, I bring it in for what they say will be a 1/2 hour job only to be told
that I need to make an appointment because the sales rep never told them I
was coming in. Well, in order to get a loaner I had to wait 3 weeks.

OK - I come back 3 weeks later. At the end of the day they say they aren't
done yet and will need another day. No big deal, right? What's another
day?

Well, they say the remotes aren't working because of an antenna problem.
I'm not buying this as they do work after the car has been sitting idle for
a while. I suspect a sensor that thinks the car is still running, they key
is still in the ignition or a door is open, etc...

Then they tell me, they are still having problems and to just hold on to the
loaner until they get back with me.

Well, at the close of business today, this makes 11 days that they have had
my vehicle. I will call them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

I believe that I have been more than patient and I fully expect to have to
jump in their **** with both feet.

One other thing - I had a slight vibration at about 35mph and they wanted me
to pay for a tire balance. I said no as it was that way when I drove off
the lot. The service rep tells me that can't be as all vehicles are
thoroughly inspected before delivery. So when I ask him how did they miss
the dinging sound, no alarm activation and inoperable remotes during this
'inspection', he doesn't have **** to say.

Tomorrow should prove interesting.
