"Classics". I must be getting old. Doesn't seem that long ago these
cars were new, sitting on dealer lots and me wondering how my [then]
brand new 5.0L, 5-Speed, 308 geared no-LX would do in a drag race
against one.

You'd have had a good shot against the GN - since you (better than
anyone) know what it took to get a stock one to hit a 13.8. The
average guy wasn't going to get that. The GNX would have likely been a
different story. But at the same time, the average guy in a stock,
3.08 geared NoOp LX wasn't going to run what you were either.

Welcome to the Club. Getting old is a predictable outcome of living, and
it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative (not living).

"On the fast track to becoming classics," is a no-brainer. These cars were
classics when they were built.

On another note, I was surprised some time ago to find the Fox Mustangs
already declared "classic collectibles" by one writer.

The 1990 models are now 20 years old, sure, but Ford made something like
1,000,000 Foxes over the years. Collectible classic?

I have a 1984 Capri RS 5.0, and it is also a Fox, but with a hatchback
(sometimes referred to as a bubble back). In all these years I've only
seen 1 other Capri like it on the road. Collectible classic? I don't
know, but it sure is fun to drive on nice days in the summer. Otherwise
it lives a sheltered life in the garage.

I later got a chance to race a GN. It was tight race in 1st-2nd gear,
but when I shifted to 3rd I opened up a couple car lead. After I
shifted to 4th, and still pulling away I backed off. I slowed down to
thank the GN driver for a good race, but he quickly defended his
defeat by saying his car 'only had a V6'. I answered with 'and I
don't have a turbo'. Apparently upset, he made a quick turn off.

In C&D's latest issue, they list the 1993 Cobra a collector to buy
right now. They state that prices have bottomed and predict they
won't go anywhere but up.
