Default Routing dilemma....

Few questions about the NYC-Ft Simpson-Skagway route.
Different sites give different distances - mapblast.com gives roughly
4000 miles while mapquest shows 4400 miles; accordingly travel times are
different.

Is anyone familiar with the above route (NYC to Edmonton, north via
McKenzie to Ft Simpson, south via Liard Hwy, on ALCAN to Skagway)?

How long would it take from Edmonton to Ft Simpson to Skagway? It's be
easy to figure out if I could get a consistent distance from somewhere.

The only part of that I've driven is Watson Lake to Skagway; it's about 300
miles, not very fast road that takes 6+ hours.
