Default timing belts/chain


Have a 92 Tercel with 93K & a 2000 MPV with 105K - the Tercel has a
1500cc, 12valve engine & the MPV a 2.5 Ford 6cyl - I want to know if &
when these engines need their timingbelt/chain replaced??? Thanks Molly

The simple answer is yes. Timing belts are now considered a
maintainace item. Thjeir life varies between 50 and 100thousand miles
dpending on the specs.

If it uses a timing belt then yes it should be replaced as defined in
the owners manual.
