Default Ford truck tie-rod separation video.See the wheel wobble!

Below is a link to a streaming video which shows a test of what happens
when the tie-rod end of a Ford pickup truck etc. pops out of it's socket.
There is a problem with the Ford tie-rod ends. The ball and sockets rust
and then can pop out while the truck is being driven.

The streaming video is about 15 minutes long. The test starts at about 7
minutes 30 seconds into the video. They show about 30 seconds of the test
with about 3 or 4 camera angles, including a camera mounted under the
fender. To do the test they disconnect the drivers side tie-rod end and
drive the truck at 25 MPH.

this is the URL path (as of Dec. 09/2004)

I will definitely be steering (sorry for the pun) clear of those Ford
F-150's when I'm out and about.

I am not sure if any auto manufacturer uses good tie rod ends these
days. Good being defined as having grease fittings.
