4 or 6 cylinder small truck???
We're thinking about buying a small truck.
We're moving from Florida to Washington state and will be driving our motorhome (loaded with as much stuff as we can safely carry). Rather than spend $$$ to rig up a tow bar to tow our small Saturn, we were thinking of buying a small truck, rigging it with a tow bar so we can tow it. That way we can carry a few light pieces of furniture. Also we're going to need a vehicle to tow (for short distances) a small-med. sailboat of @1-2,500 lbs. and the saturn can only tow 1000 lbs. But most of the use of the small truck will be just for messing around, going shopping, etc. We first thought we'd buy a Toyota Tacoma (looks like it's rated pretty good and the price looks good too) but now we find that you can't tow it with 4 wheels down. (I guess we could get a tow dolly) Also considering the Nissan Frontier which I think you can tow. We're thinking of going with the 4 cylinder to get better gas mileage. I'm pretty ignorant though....I really don't know what the advantages of 4 cylinder vs 6 cylinder are. Appreciate your opinions. Also appreciate any other suggestions on vehicles that you think might be a better choice. We want something that gives good gas mileage, fairly inexpensive to buy (used is great), can tow at least 2000 lbs and hopefully could carry at least 2 recliners....AND can be towed behind RV. Thanks! Sandy |
