Default los coyotes update

a user of one of my forums attempted to wheel at los coyotes and sent me
this information. i dont know if any of it has been posted before and i
cannot verify any of it, but wanted to pass it along.

"Nathan ,
I finally got ahold of an Indian & was told that they were closed for good
to off-roading so that they could have some regrowth to accomidate 2 years
in the future when they will serve as a horse riding camp .

The littering thing is bull**** . I was told by a Warner Springs Fireman
that casino money & Indians stealing from thier own is the real reason for
the closure .sad sad sad ! About 10 years ago when they built new restrooms
@ the campground the local indians immediately stole the copper pipes &
thats why they never worked .

Happy trails."

I've heard the same story about the restroom pipes.

I've also heard the stories about becoming a horse riding mecca. I haven't
heard anything about littering, per se, but a few years ago in the midst of
a pretty large fire, some idiot camped and built a campfire in an illegal
and very stupid spot, THEN got up the next moring and left the fire
smoldering.

Whatever the reasons, we lost a damned fine offroading location and I
will never forget how great it was. Damn the loss.

have any of you gone directly to the tribal agencies that made the decision
to close it? perhaps a well thought out plan that provides both trail
conservation and generates tribal revenue could make a difference.

Sad News. I used to love going out there. Another one for the list that went
the way of Coyote Canyon trail in the Anza Borrego. Remember that trail,
Noce run. Not a challenge but man it was really beautiful.

The excuse for closing sounds phony to me. You won't get any appreciable
regrowth over the Jeepin' trails in two years.

There may be something to horseback riding but not for Indian children. The
proposed Riding Center is probably going to be designed with yuppettes in
mind as clientele.

As for the vandalization...... I imagine the wealth is NOT being shared.
And if casinos are involved then organized crime is not far behind.

thats sorta redundant. my experience with indian reservations is that
anything can be had if you have money in your hand. id bet you could go out
on the crow rez here south of billings and shoot an eagle for the right
amount of money.
