Default Dealer Oil Changes

A local dealer here in Toronto charges $154 CAD taxes in for an oil change
on my C5. What are prices like elsewhere?

I think they charge roughly 45 USD here.

With the exchange rate, that's only $58 CAD - almost $100 more! This is
highway robbery up here.

I have no clue...
Never in my 60 + years have I had a dealer change the oil in any of
the cars or trucks or tractors I have ever owned...

BUT I can say this...paying close to $100. (US)_ is just DAMN STUPID
...unless it is snowing outside and you have no garage...

My last was on 06/28/04. I paid $57+tax for a dealer to change my oil - only
$5.27 was labour (at work, as a software developer, I'd earn $5.27 in about
3-4 minutes). So, it just doesn't make sense for me to do my own oil changes.

Not suggesting it makes sense for everyone. But it is certainly cost
effective for some people to go to a dealer to do the changes - if the
labour charge is low enough.

Of course, the reason my dealer does such cheap oil changes is as a
loss-leader, for other service work & for new car sales.

Free here, included in the price of the car for the first 4 oil changes.
Even then I'll change it myself for the cost of the materials and my own
personal check of what's going on underneath the car.

Way to much sloppy work goes on at a dealership for the lower skill (paid)
jobs.
