What about legal requirements that prohibit you from doing
just that? Better check with local law enforcement, or the state
highway patrol. Most places, they can make you remove any coating
which transmits less than a defined minimum of light through windows.

In most states you can do pretty much whatever you want to
windows behind the driver's location. The side windows at
the driver's location usually have limits on darkness, and
the front windshield is usually strictly prohibited from
any kind of tinting.

Only applies to passenger cars. Doesn't apply to any light trucks
like vans, SUVs, or pickups. Most cargo vans don't have windows.
