kid was coming home an engine quit, said it sounded like a slinggggg
and shout of, removed dist. cap spun motor an had no movement in
distributor. tor done for timeing chain and chain is still connected???
spun motor an no movement up front???

Well at one end of the motor is a flywheel and the other end has a
timing gear (with chain apparently) and there is a thing called a
crankshaft in between. So if you can rotate one end of the engine and
the other end doesn't move then guess what is broke. But that would be
how most cars work maybe you have a motorcycle or boat or maybe a
lawnmower???

Try explaining in a little more detail the part about "spun motor an no
movement up front". Actually, it wouldn't hurt to try explaining the
whole thing in clear sentences.

Make sure the ring gear is still pressed on the flywheel (happened from
time to time on 4.3 and small block V8's.

I'm assuming your sentence meant "Tore down for timing chain and it's
still connected."

So you are saying the crank gear on the timing set is not moving?
Because if the Nylon gear on the cam is stripped, the cam will just sit
there and the chain will spin around on it.
