Default cherokee 2002 hydraulic fan/power steering

Hi there, anyone familiar with the fault that causes loss of power
steering due to some kind of fault with the hyadraulic fan unit on the
jeep cherokee? it appears that the valve assembly may be just
redirecting pressure to the return rather than to the steering box, a
schematic would be a great help to figuring it out as it is just a
valve block with a bleed to the fan motor and should be fixable,
unless they are known to blow holes in the valve block internally?
Any suggestions on repair would be great as opposed to $869US for a
complete fan/shroud/motor/valve assembly.
Cheers
Chris
