Default Why does govt care about airline safety but not highway safety??

The 35,000 americans killed on the highways every year dwarfs the few
hundred killed in plane crashes but the govt lets the speeders and
drunk drivers and cell drivers and red light runners kill all they
want.

Reckless drivers are a bigger threat to you than all other criminals,
including terrorists, put together.

I thought it was 40,000 americans (sic) killed every year...

Because for some reason, a US$200,000,000.00 airliner being destroyed
in a fireball makes more headlines than some seppo like you in a
US$20.00 beater offing yourself in a poof.

And last time I looked, one errant car can't bring down a sky scraper.

Yes, but never deliberately. In fact i got a speeding ticket about 5
years ago for doing 41 in a 25. I just about kicked the cops teeth in
cause i was sure he was lying. No way the SL on this wide open
stretch could be 25, i thought."

Government doesn't care about it safety, it cares about power. The
government uses safety the same way you do, as an excuse to boss people
around.

Well, all the talking on cell phones and texting while driving are so
dangerous, that the death rate for the USA went down by 5K - 7K deaths
/ year.

It causes fear, ruins people's desire to fly, and therefor damages the
airline industry by billions in lost fares.

>And last time I looked, one errant car can't bring down a sky scraper.

Nope.

, "Maginot mentality" meant banking too heavily on one possible outcome
and failing to consider alternatives.

It used to be 40,000. Used to be 55,000 in fact. But people like me
have brought the number down.

Hell- according to the govt, skyscrapers can be brought down by
essentially nothing. Building 7 collapsed because another skyscraper a
block away collapsed 7 hours earlier!!!! Really amazing how fragile
buildings are nowadays. Maybe a car could bring one down.

So does the Keystone Gestapo. Which is why the terrorists have won until
they are disbanded.
