The FIA ****ed him off by outlawing his 2J after the 1970 season and he left Can-Am, to everyone's detriment. Chaparral did tune the engines in the Shadow in '71, and they used Chaparral's crossover induction on them, but that was about it. Also unfortunate, it looks like Mr. Beckman's take on history is pretty shaky, at best. RC |

Who gives a rat's?
So long as he has a selection of Can-Am cars from this first series, I for one care bugger-all for the accuracy of the timeline. All the more reason to include one of Jim Hall's creations, IMO. Kindly accept my appology if I offended.
All I saw was mention of the 1971 season, which had no Chaparrals. I was not commenting on the mod creator's timeline, just his apparent lack of grasp on the realities of Can-Am 1971. Not trying to stir anything up. RC |

We tend to WANT things we can't have. Thus, if someone comes up with a 70's Trans Am mod, I still may lobby for the Chaparrals. dave henrie |

No offence taken here, Richard.
As Dave so rightly states, a representation of the original Can-am series deserves the inclusion of a Chaparral......ANY Chaparral!! (Just my personal desire, of course!) Bruce. "Richard Chiun" > wrote in message ups.com... > Kindly accept my appology if I offended. |

Hall campaigned factory Camaros in T/A amongst the 2J's development. ;-) http://www.historictransam.com/Drive...kMountanos.htm -jde |

Hmmm, I distinctly remember seeing something like that minutes ago for Nascar Heat. On that subject, after finding a rare copy of Heat (very rare here in Europe at least, I think this one was never sold here), I'd like to say a big "Thanks!" to all who made those nice mods I've tried for this not-too-bad-actually type of lite sim: (Big Ben, Punko, Maxx, John Bodin etc.... You know who you are; gracias!) Spirit of Heat 1937 (GP Titans mod, Silver Arrows era), Spirit of Heat 1955 (GP 50's mod, Fangio era), and the Formula Ford 2000 mod. I'll definitely be trying more of those, it's good for filling the wait for the similar upcoming mods for GPL... at dozens of mods, seems like Heat is much more 'moddable' than I thought. Noticed also some "Classic Can-Am" and Trans-Am type stuff there. http://teamplayers.hsw.hu/nh_carsets.htm http://www.texasspeedracing.com/ Regards, Rudy (GPLRank -24) |

I quite agree! I personally think Jim Hall's marvelous creations epitomized what Can-Am was supposed to be about, and they provided the only consistently serious threat to the Orange Elephants over the time period they raced. The Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas has most of the Chaparrals on display, so if you ever pass through there... RC |
