Knock and Speed Sensor for I30
I have a 96 Infiniti I30. Just this morning the Check Engine light came
on. Went to Auto Zone and had them to use the computer to find out what was wrong. Got codes P0325 & P0500. Seems the Knock(170.00) and Speed Sensor (150.00)need to be replaced. The question I have is this a DIY job or should I be looking to take this to the shop. If so where are these located and how do I replace them? Thanks. Marcus |

You can download the 96 Maxima factory service manual for a small fee online. You get a couple of days access, so you can get any Nissan manuals you want. Don't know about Infinity-specific ones--do a web search for more info. While knock sensors can fail on this car, you can also get spurious knock-sensor codes. And the knock sensor code doesn't trigger the CEL. So after clearing it, you should check it again before embarking on the diagnostic procedure (which I think is: Check connector. Bad? Replace. OK? Replace sensor). If the code comes back immediately, deal with it. . Might get better info at alt.autos.nissan.maxima. |
