156: Keylock electronics malfunctioning
Hi,
A few weeks ago, for the first time in 7 years, my 156 wont start. After inspection, it was clear that the keylock electronics were malfunctioning. The yellow coloured keysymbol in the central display doesn't light up at all, prior to starting the engine (were it should normally light up for just a second). The service manual only mentions a continues lighting keysymbol, indicating an error on this feature. Locking, unlocking didn't help; neither did a new insertion of the key. Using the 2nd (spare) key also didn't help. Desperately I started to try to execute the emergency procedures, by using the throttle pedal (10s) and flashing red injection indicator in the right display, as tools for a sort of 'manual' input of the keylock code. A few weeks ago this stops the error, even after not finishing the entire procedure! Yesterday, it didn't help at all. Anybody any idea to recover from such an error, or maybe it is a known hidden feature ??? Thanks in advance for your reactions. Barry http://bere-design.tk |

Stupid answer, I know.
The battery is only for the remote control, which functions well. The electronic keylock code is powered by the antenna near the key insert. A coil on the circuit in the key is picking up this signal, and uses this for powering its electronics and transmitting its code. Nice guess anyway ... I'm afraid it is the immobiliser! Hi all, I too am experiencing difficulty in starting my 156. I have owned
it for 2 weeks and sometimes when i try to start her the yellow key symbol stays lit. After leaving it for a minute or two it works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Ian Alfa 156 2.0 TS Selespeed |
