Now that it's really hot here in PA our 2006 MX5 dashboard vents put out
a lot of hot air. With dashboard vents in the Open mode and the fan
speed on low, the air coming out of the vents is pretty warm even when
cruising at high speed. With the fan off its bearable. Any suggestions?
Is there any easy way to determine if the temperature control damper is
closing all the way?

Our 2002 never blew out cold air. Now got a 2007 with air con. Even in
the UK it occasionally gets hot enough to need the air con on with the
top down. The 2002 was like a sauna in hot damp weather.

When I get in the car (with the top down), I always turn the a/c on for a
few minutes to cool the vents. Then when I shut it off the air coming
through them seems to be more liveable.

The air coming in through your vents is the outside air crossing over
the engine and header on its way to your feet, that's why it feels so
darned hot. You might want to look into getting a Cool Breeze scoop
(www.coolbreezescoop.com) which will direct cooler air from the top of
the windshield down to your feet. It makes a HUGE difference. No
connection to dealer, just a very satisfied customer. And I don't
even have the one with the air diverter or the bug screen. ;-)

Hey, where in PA are you? If you're anywhere near the eastern side,
check out our local club at www.lvmoc.net

I'll check into the scoop. Looks interesting. We are near Norristown and
are on the lvmoc mail list and are members of delval.

I installed the scoop this year and it even helped in today's heat and
humidity. You going to the driving class at Pocono on July 22-23 with
DelVal? This will be my fourth year doing it and I learn something
every time. It will be a lot different this year since I don't have
the '90 and haven't quite figured out all the limits of the '04.

Haven't convinced the wife yet that I won't destroy our baby. Mabey one
of these years.
