No Low
Sorry about the double post
Long story short, I picked up a 95 yj this spring, I tried 4HI on the test drive and it seemed to work. I got it running right and safe enough for the wife to run around town in a few days but got hurt at work and really have not had a chance to touch it again till today. So tonight I tried to go to 4LO but cant get it. I got through 4HI and into neutral but cant get lo, got back into 4HI with some grinding. Is there a trick? I tried fwd, nut, rev. Poss. the vacume lines? Linkage? As you can guess this is my first Jeep I have had several 4x4's 92 Toyota, 85 Bronco and my 97 Z71 they all have there quirks but never had this problem. If it was up to me I'd just park it for now but the wife wants to drive it this winter instead of the GMC "it's tiny and easy to park" Grrrr |

Manual, use the clutch. It seems obvious, but I don't think everyone knows
this, and it is probably not in the Owner's Manual. You can shift between 4hi and 2hi while moving, but to get into low you have to stop. Between 4hi and 2hi I use the clutch anyway, just in case there is some load on the drive line. Earle "L.W.(Bill) Hughes III" > wrote in message ... > Pull it quickly through neutral into low range. Could be the shift forks in the transfer case. There are little plastic
runners on the end of the forks. They do wear out over time. I had a 231 out of my 87 YJ do that. Later Mike |

I learnt to drive doing that - no syncro on 1st on LandRovers, and what
there was on the rest of the gears was rather worn on mine. Every now and then I do it out of habit and wonder why I just did it :-) Dave Milne, Scotland "L.W.(Bill) Hughes III" > wrote in message ... > Of course Real Jeeps and their better drivers just double clutch. > ;-) > God Bless America, Bill O|||||||O > http://www.billhughes.com/ > > Earle Horton wrote: > > > > Manual, use the clutch.
