FFS!!! One of the two main reasons for absolutely *not* getting
another Alfa and..er..I find (two days after coming over all German)
that my assertion is utter ********!! I've just discovered that
Western have newly added an Alfa UK approved dealer and service centre
to their existing Glasgow site. (Alfa dealership expands..shock horror
- amazing in the current climate)

Just to rub serious salt into my wound, this site has got to be less
than three miles from where I work. AAAAAaaaaarrrgghhh. At least the
remaining Alfisti in the Glasgow/west of Scotland area can now avoid
Arnold Clark and avail themselves of the only full dealership in the
area. They're town centre south west.

Trade in. Unusually, Glass and Parkers were actually in agreement on
the value. The price I got was 100UKP less than trade price due to
them taking into account a sizeable rear bumper scuff done by some
tw@t reversing into her when parked and buggering off.

I traded her in rather than straight sold because the small amount of
extra money gained wouldn't nearly have compensated for the extra
hassle I'd have had to deal with in my circumstances. The difference
between private good and part ex is 260UKP in Parkers today. More
interestingly, the part ex price has risen by 15UKP in a week!!!...
This is notable because, a 1.1% weekly increase is vastly more than
you'd get from most bank savings accounts for a year at the moment.
There you go..*invest* in an old Alfa - who'd have thought?..

various rattles / squeeks / etc..., and (tempting fate) it's still on the
original exhaust - should I apply to Guinness Book of Records ?! )

I miss the Alfa, I had little choice..I had to move..

My life appears to have grown round the old Alfa. Now I'm having to
make some changes to accommodate the German ways, many of which appear
to be not as good as, or less convenient than, the Italian ways...

I'm old enough to remember when cars didn't last half as long as a 156
exhaust does now. And, at that time, if you'd said that "one day the
Italians will make an exhaust that lasts for at least 11 years!" you'd
have been taken away for a mental assessment by people in white coats.

Western have taken over from Arnold Clark in Edinburgh too.

TBH, I can't see someone like AC really wanting a (relatively)
sluggish selling marque like Alfa. He'll be more interested in popular
high turnover stuff.

Having said that, AC is still showing on the alfaromeo.co.uk as having
service centres in Glasgow and Edinburgh so he doesn't appear to have
completely given up on Alfa..yet.
