To be honest, it all sounds pretty much the same as the goals of ISI and
rFactor. The big difference is that currently rFactor has a huge head start
and a slightly larger development team.

Neither bitching or moaning, just said the effort/reward ratio wasn't
right for me with this version base on what I've read of other's
experience.

What the hell. Let's just make the tach a special color you can only see
while wearing a set of included glasses with a contrasting color.

But what happens when the optional oil squirter shoots a blast of oil,
(black gold, Texas Tea) on your goggles(WW1 Snoopy replicas?) and then the
goggle hue is changed...

I didn't for a minute think you were - I was referring to the small
number of posts on RSC suggesting the normal conspiracy, fraud and
robbery theories by the cunningly evil developer!

For sure both rFactor and NetKar-Pro are “community” sims but they are
different in approach.

Rfactor provides a basis for the community to mod the product and make
it complete. The off the shelf package does not offer a complete off
line experience as say GT Legends, the tools don’t exist for online
leagues and the cars & tracks are limited. It needs the community to
embrace it and mod it to succeed.

NetKar-Pro is being designed along with the sim community. The initial
release is even more basic than rFactor – no AI and no online tools
either, plus it is rougher around the edges and needs some fixes before
it can be considered a stable product. However, the nature of the
development allows it to be more flexible in developing patches and
adding featues in a relatively short time scale compared with larger
teams – days/weeks rather than months.

My summary would be that rFactor is being designed for the sim community
to work with, NetKar-Pro is being designed with the sim community.

Either way I believe it is good news for us. The loss of NR2003 as a
development platform seems a long way off now.

Cheers
Tony

Explanation on how these gearboxes really work he

http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?p=3002288

This isn't like changing gear in your road car.

Hope this helps
