OK, I downloaded the SCCA GCR from http://www.scca.org/Club/Index.asp?IdS=009784-2E22900&x=030|057&~= From the Spec Miata section: "Towing eyes per GCR Section 17.31 are required. Stock towing eyes may be modified, replaced, or removed but may serve no other purpose." GCR Section 17.31 says towing eyes must have a minimum ID of 2 inches. So, the OEM tiedowns are not required if they're replaced with other approved towing eyes. Happy now? :-) -- Lanny Chambers '94C, St. Louis http://www.hummingbirds.net/alignment.html |

Happy now? :-) Actually, I read that as saying that you're more than welcome to remove them if you like. -- tooloud Remove nothing to reply |

Stock towing eyes may >be modified, replaced, or removed but may serve no other purpose." How can they be required but you are allowed to remove them?? Since the stock towing eyes weigh a ton, I would think everyone would "modify" them to be of balsa wood. >GCR Section 17.31 says towing eyes must have a minimum ID of 2 inches. > >So, the OEM tiedowns are not required if they're replaced with other >approved towing eyes. Happy now? :-) Does it mention anything about balsa wood? Leon -- Leon van Dommelen Bozo, the White 96 Sebring Miata .) http://www.dommelen.net/miata EXIT THE INTERSTATES (Jamie Jensen) |
