Shelby GT500 much improved over the original
The 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 is stiff, stiff, stiff, stiff. Therein lies
the charm. If it were not stiff, it would not require muscle.

Stiff but FAT, sucker weighs 4,000 pounds, and you need a big engine to drag
all that fat around.

the 5.0 Fox body was 2,700 pounds and Quick.

Why are cars getting heavier ?

You going by curb weight or gross vehicular weight? There's a difference.
Curb weight is the weight of the car sitting "empty". Gross vehicular weight
GVW, which is on your door, is the weight of the car with the recommended
amount of weight the car can carry, this includes cargo and 4 passengers.
