Default Drunk Drivers

"Speeders and Drunk Drivers …" may sound a bit extreme at times but in
most instances, I really don't find fault and I'll explain my reasons.
Several years ago my middle son was killed by a drunk driver. No, he
was not in a car but merely walking down a sidewalk when the drunk ran
off the road and struck him.
The local police attempted a cover-up as the drunk was the wife of a
local politician and had just left a political luncheon. What they
didn't know was that I had a few friends on the state and federal
level.
It took about 2 years, and calling in many favors, to get charges
brought and her previous record of 4 DUI's to be allowed at trial. She
received a sentence of 7 years.
The local police chief was forced to resign due to the cover-ups on
this case and several others involving politicians or relatives.
The various settlements insure that my daughter-in-law and my grandson
will never want for any material item.

New laws and greater punishments and neo-prohibitionist BAC levels are
not going to make the connected be held responsible for what they do. It
just makes it so unconnected people who've not hurt anyone and aren't
likely to have a much more difficult time.

You can say that about every law. The rich and powerful always buy their
way out of prosecution for their crimes.
