Default A good idea badly implemented

I kinda like the idea of Daytime Running Lights as long as they aren't
shriekingly bright. Implementing them as *amber* lamps in a
location and housing where other drivers might expect to see a turn
signal... sheesh! Who thought that one up -- paint and body shops
trying to drum up business?

No, Sweden makers of Volvo/Saab and by the Greyhound Bus Co. and its
'Lights On For Safety' campaign, I think 1980s? GM jumped on board
when they decided to manufacture all of their wiring harnesses in
Canada. See: http://www.motorists.org/drl/
