Default Lowering suspension on Alfa's with ESP

I talk to my dealer about lowering my GT (will be there in week42)
Although it is phisical possible, he informed me that the offical standpoint
of Alfa (and Fiat) is NO-NO!
Reason is that the ESP (electronic stability program) is set to do the job
with the standard ride height and lowering the car would influence the
centre of gravity too much, so the ESP would not perform correctly anymore.
To avoid lawsuits, they seem to have taken this standpoint.
Who has heard of this as well?

That could be right. I don't know, actually, my 156 has no ESP, but a friend
of mine has a 2002 156 JTS (Rosso Alfa!) with lowered suspensions and there
is no problem. Maybe you can correct the new values with a job on the ESP's
CPU...
