Default Beware of plastics - "Flashes.jpg"

Don't take these things for granted, they cost money and are worthless once
the hotshoe mount breaks. Yeah, I'm just clumsy - no more coffee before a
shoot!

Default Beware of plastics - "Flashes.jpg"


Thanks for the warning. The silver/black one looks very similar to
mine. I have a separate leather case and carry it in it. When I'm
doing photos that may need flash, it's mounted on the camera, other
times, it is back in the leather case as the mounting and dis-mounting
time is negligable.

The problem is that thin squarish plastic has two small protrusions which
give when pressure is applied left or right. When you add four AA batteries
the thing weighs almost as much as the camera. There must be a manufacturer
who uses better material than this.

I've got exactly the same situation with one of my older flash units. The
new SB600 and SB800 won't have that problem.

Man, I hope the 430EX is more sturdy. Looks like both of yours have a metal
base.
