Default When will speed limit be lowered to 55?

I am praying for the day when this country will lower the speed
limit back to 55 MPH. Gas prices have increased enormously yet I
still see people in their gas guzzlers driving 75 mph. I dont think
people realize how much more economical , safer and less stressful it
is to drive at 55 MPH. And please, time is not money unless you are a
billionaire..

Dr Phil, I checked your profile and apparently you are NOT the latest
incarnation of Aunt Judy/Laura Bush/SADDAM, no matter how much you
sound alike.
Well anyway, the main reason people don't realize how much more
'economical , safer and less stressful' it is to drive at 55 MPH is
simply because it is NOT safer and NOT less stressful, and really not
all that much economical either. And yes, time is definitely money
even if you are a minimum wage punk, so don't try that shtick either.
Anyway, until you come up with some real and useful info (not from the
IIHSA please, don't waste our time with lies), I recommend you praying
instead for answers on your reg-expression questions, and to get out
of Oprah's bedroom alive.

Moron. It was tried once and it failed. The simple fact is that We The
People rejected 55MPH once, and we will reject ir again. Don't like it?

My argument is that driving 55 MPH will is more productive since it
frees your mind to multi-task. I like to listen to audiobooks while
driving. I find myself unable to concentrate at speeds above 70 mph.
So by driving 55 I can absorb far more of the book, thereby
increasing the value of my time spent getting from A to B.

It is a sad reflection of human beings that we would rather die
than change our habits. The world is going to come to a rude
awakening when oil starts running out in the middle east and more of
those countries acquire nuclear weapons.

And you must be a bigger edyot for not understanding the physics
behind this. A car's energy is proportional to the SQUARE of it's
velocity.

If more people were attentive to their driving instead of dicking around
with cellphones, reading papers and other distractions while driving,
they wouldn't have to die. That's Darwin at work. And it doesn't matter
if the collision happens at 55MPH or 70MPH. Dead is dead and it will
happen either way.

Why do yo think that people are starting to awaken and demand
alternatives like E85, B20 and new technologies (like hybrids) to extend
what oil we have left untill something new can be developed? We don't
need crap like the 55MPH speed limit to delay the inevitable (and yes,
it si inevitable that someday oil WILL run out).

You can't listen to an audiobook and drive 70, don't. I have no
issues doing so and I'll continue to. Don't expect everything dumbed
down to the lowest common denominator, it's no smarter than "no child
left behind".

BTW, my time is money. I'm a mid twenties homeowner with many
hobbies, a house that's a full time job, another real full time job
and a part time job. Time = $. Your time may not be $, perhaps your
$ comes in from a government check regardless of hours you spend
working. In that case, my time is _your_ money, now get out of my way
so I can get to work.
