front dr side wheel noise - screeching fades when turning
I recently bought 96 Honda Civic for my wife, but I drive to work.
About a week ago a scrreeching (metal on metal) noise started very quietly and it's been getting louder daily. But it doesn't start until I've driven about 3/4 miles and then it slowly gets louder and louder BUT when I apply the brakes or do any sharp turns it fades or completely disappears until I release the brakes or straighten up. Any ideas anyone? |

Check the pads for wear - could be the wear indicator.

Check Tegger's faq:
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/rustybrakes/brakes1.html I had the exact same noise during turns that disappeared when I straightened out or applied the brakes. When I checked my pads they were almost new, so no wear indicator noise. I did Tegger's brake maintenance and it solved all problems immediately. I highly recommend it... good luck |

Thanks for the replies.
I'll take a look at the link you posted Bruce and hopefully update this message to let you know how I get on. Thanks again. |
