Default Vette to Get 7.

Seems the Vette will soon get a 7-speed manual. And you know once
that happens it won't be long before it trickles down to the Camaro.
And if the Camaro gets it, you know the Ford boys won't let the
Mustang be down a cog for too long... yep, get ready to start rowing
through seven.

the only reason to have so many gears is with a narrow power band.

is it really just Marketing(?)

with 7 gears, why stay in 3rd, 4th, or 5th ?



dragsters have 1 gear.......

That makes sense, but with many/most engines there days able to spin
up over 6,000 rpm that isn't the case. The added gear(s) is mostly
about squeezing out more MPG.

Nope, again, it's mostly about more MPG.

More gears means less/easy work for the engine.

That's because of their massive torque. They don't need to multiply
it, the effort there is putting it down. (They're still slipping the
clutch near/at the 1/4 mile point.)

Auto crossing! Now that I have an automatic, it's not as fun, but
sometimes I go anyway just to race around legally.
