What's happening to this group ?
As soon as I pull the dash out of my 318is to replace the odometer gears,
I'm **sure** I'll have a question or two Over Christmas I put together an electronic kit to correct my speedo, so I'll fit that at the same time. The main problem will be figuring out which wire to cut. Regards James > wrote in message ... > I've seen a few post but mostly spam. Just been quiet for the most > part. > > 89 E30 325i... You only have to pull the cluster to change the gears. As far as which
wire, it's attached to the cluster by itself (at least in the E30 cars). How are you correcting the speedo and why is it off that much? What's happening to this group ?
That's a fair point. Thanks for the tip on the single wire. That should
make it really easy. As to why I want to correct the speedo - well, every other car in the house has an accurate speedo, but my car is out by 10%. My son is learning to drive and it's important that he stays at or under the speed limit, so its easier if we have consistent speedos. As to how - I'm using a kit designed by Silicon Chip magazine and distributed by Jaycar in Australia. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5435 I had considered fitting the kit a couple of years ago, but it was to much effort for something that wasn't broken. However, as the cluster has to come out anyway, the time is right. If you read this blog, you'll see why I wanted to know about the wire. The 318is is obviously easier than a 1985 735i. http://blog.autospeed.com/2004/03/28...a-single-wire/ James > wrote in message ... > You only have to pull the cluster to change the gears. Alot of BMWCCA hardcorers use the UUC BMW digest on yahoo groups. You find ex-alt.autos.bmw posters there like BMW Master tech Brett Anderson. Another reason is the massive amount of spam this group gets because its free. I think many just get tired of it and leave. At most, I only search here maybe once a week to see if there are any good topics. Good Luck! |
