Certainly the best answer so far but I doubt it's sufficient. From the
tone of the original post I think Karl North is asking to be talked out
of what he already knows is a bad idea... sorry if that's incorrect.

As much as I hate to agree with Pat (the miata dissector), his idea makes
allot of sense to me. If Karl's interested in this project, I'm assuming
he's got the where-with-all to scrap out the S2k and build the hot rod miata
that he yearns for!

What do you say Karl? Would Maggie Mae disown you?

I completely agree, and would like to see those pics if you can find
them. I actually kind of like the S2000, it is on my short list of
roadsters that I would consider other than the miata.
Of course, I would just end up parting it out if I bought one. ;-)

Miata dissector. I like that. In fact, that is my new handle, pws has
been retired after all of these years.

Sorry to tease you, but the pics are nowhere to be found.

I did find the original source; a co-worker sent me a link to an eBay
Auto sale of the hybrid. -- Via Google, I found a few discussion
groups (primarily S2k and Drifter sites) that had linked to the same
eBay listing. Unfortunately, the link is dead.

If anyone out there happended to cache the images...

I went ahead and purchased both cars. I have a buyer for the S2000 As-Is. I
also have a body shop who's VERY interested in the Miata. They have a
wrecked one in their shop right now, same year, similar mileage, and the
SAME color! Even if I only sell the S2000 I'll clear about $3,700.00 profit
from about a days work.

I believe it can be done, the unusual thing about the S2000 engine being
that it rotates the opposite way to other Honda engines, i.e. the
"right" way. Most Honda engines are designed for FWD and Honda have
them spinning anti-clockwise (viewed from no.1 end) to increase traction
on the driving wheels through torque reaction of the body. Allegedly.
