Future of the Avanti questionable. Personally for the same $$ (actually about half the price of a new one or less) I'd buy a 63-64 Studebaker Avanti or early (66-early 70s) Avanti II which is pretty much the same car with a chevy small block instead of the original Stude 289. Way *more* distinctive than the new one, but if you care about things like water leaks, climate control, and NVH it may not be the car for you kick in the ass to drive though. A good distinctive modern car that I lust after would be a new TVR, I agree... but you can't get 'em here nate -- replace "fly" with "com" to reply. http://home.comcast.net/~njnagel |

I'll probably take some ragging for it from this group (I already have at work), but I think the Scion xB (the one that looks like a refrigerator on wheels) takes the prize for most unique styling in the past couple of years (and I happen to love it - I find it a little odd in myself that I love both the overly curvy C3 and the xB rolling box). Before that I'd give it to the PT Cruiser - love 'em or hate 'em, you gotta admit they're unique. Now, if they'd only put a decent power plant in that little box, I'd be all over it. As it is 100hp is going to take a lot of convincing to get me into one, even with the $14k price tag. Eric -- '74 Coupe 350 Automatic Black/Black |

I remembered another one - another Chevy - the SSR. After the obligatory WTF is that, it slowly grerw on me. I'd had a 99 Camaro SS & first thought the SSR was just an attempt to cash in on the SS label. Still trying to figure out if I like the Crossfire. I don't especially like the Nissan 350Z's looks, but I did consider buying a new one, until I found the used 99 C-5, which I now drive. I'm not the worlds greatest fan of it's looks, but I'd love to drive a (US) Lotus Elise - but any time you break the speed limit, you're gonna get a ticket. They just stand out too much. |

Immediately reminded me of that rounded Bugatti ass-end of the '30's (?). I hardly follow the new car developments anymore so don't know much about it... By it's looks, it had better have some good getupandgo or else it's a hollow promise (kinda like the original '53-'55 6cyl. Corvette). I've seen it in different colors but really favor the silver blue, but that may just be my Elkhart Blue bias... Chrysler has done a great job in the design area the past 5 years or so. As for performance, the crossfire is not a Miata (all bark and no bite), but neither is it a 350Z (ugly thing, if you ask me - but it can fly). Crossfire comes with a Mercedes V6 - I think it is 3.0L or close and gives somewhere between 200 and 230 HP (not bad for such a little roadster). Actually, I've heard several times that they will offer a 300+ HP model in 2005 - now that would be the one to have - beauty AND brawn! -- '74 Coupe 350 Automatic Black/Black |

You need a periscope and X-ray vision to see where the hell you're going. Plus, the Mayor of MunchkinLand would have a hard time sitting in it for more than 20 minutes.
