Yup when the cast-in ear breaks off, you can grind the remains down some
and use the bolt on, stamped steel 2-bolt mount. Done it.

BTW.
I like to grease the cable from the front. ya know, a little greasing as
I insert the cable. and it is very important to grease the wing nut as
it must swivel or the cable will break pre-maturely . If you have the
old two nut system, convert it. The wing nut was an improvement.
