Default 156: Boot Gas Strut

Hi all

The one gas strut on the boot of my 156 saloon has failed.

As I opened the boot the other day, there was a nasty sounding cracking
noise followed by another when I shut it without realising the problem.
Later that day I again opened the boot and noticed that the ball joint
fizing which attaches the strut to the boot has shattered, leaving it
dangling loose in the channel around the boot.

Do you think that given I have an extended warranty, the vehicle is
only just three years old and I've covered less that 40k miles, that
this is a warranty claim?

Cheers and TIA

Alfa agreed to the replacement under warranty, which surprised the
dealer I have to say. All she has to do now is get through her first
MOT at the end of the month!

Cheers
