1. That defense lawyers use rediculous defenses does _not_ mean that
they don't know better.

2. That it took a 4 judge panel at the appeals court to decide the
question says that it was a valid attempt. I suspect the lawyer knew
it would probably lose going in but 'it's worth a shot".

Definitely not a fan of lawyers but to call one an idiot for trying to
defend a client is a bit much.

Lawyers aren't evil just because they're lawyers. I know some good, very
hard-working, intelligent, ethical attorneys.

I still question this particular lawyer's common sense.

Then you musdt question the common sense of _all_ defense lawyers.
They all put on what the observer will classify as 'asinine, stupid
defenses'.
