Default sound of water

I have had a Mk 1 import for the last 10 years. Recently, somehow, water
is getting into the car (yes I have got the roof up) following heavy rain
and I can hear it sloshing around under the floor on the passenger side.
I have checked that there are no blocked drain holes but can't find any
drain holes to check - any ideas?

This is where the drain holes are located, they are very likely blocked
after 10 years.
I have found that an ice pick works great for clearing them out. Get
ready for some dirty water to come out.

I had this problem too. I took the car to the dealer, and they blew out
the drain hole for the air conditioning without charge. End of problem.

When the A/C drain hole becomes clogged, water also gets dumped into the
passenger footwell. Since the OP did not mention water inside the car,
I am assuming that it is probably in the door sills.
The trapped water in the door sills also makes a lot more of a sloshing
noise than what is in the plastic A/C overflow box.

Agreed. The drains are slots inside the jacking points. They're easily
crushed by sloppy jacking. The previously-cited miata.net page has
everything you need to know.

Problem solved - took about 2 minutes! Thanks to all who posted.

We agree? That is no fun at all. I retract my previous post. ;-)

OK, we aim to please. Your grandmother swims after troopships.

Happy now?

Yes I am, thank you very much.

Your parents named you Lanny, so you must have done something bad from
the very beginning. (BFG)

Oh, even earlier than that, I think. They were driving to Key West, and
my mom went into labor halfway down the causeway from Miami. They barely
made it back to the city in time for me to ruin the rest of their
weekend.

In fact, I consider myself extremely lucky they didn't name me something
worse...e.g., "Pat." :-)
