I feel sorry for anyone that wouldn't help the police when they can, or
who would willingly let a felon escape to hurt others because "they didn't
want to get involved".

1. Was not a "vigilante action" since the cops requested it.
2. The point of the blockade was to end the chase.
3. Diesel will burn but is not very volitile.
4. You're not familiar with the Gorman area. It's divided with a
substantial barrier.
5. I hope nobody "inconveniences" you chasing after the suspect that
raped your wife.

Use your head. Cops don't like high-speed chases either, but what is
the alternative? No chase? It wouldn't be a week before every
criminal knew that all he has to do is make his escape at high velocity
and the chase will end...

I mean...duh.

Well, 2 seconds of Googling was difficult:

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?se...cal&id=3615340

http://www.kesq.com/Global/story.asp?S=4089008&nav=9qrx

Might want to try that next time you decide to shoot yourself in the foot.

Big Rigs Trap Pursuit Vehicle
CASTAIC - A motorist who led CHP officers on a chase north of Castaic today
was arrested after he tried to drive between two big rigs, one of which
suddenly veered left and trapped the car between the trucks.
The chase, which lasted more than an hour, ended shortly before 6:30 a.m. on
the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway north of Quail Lake, said California
Highway Patrol Officer John Seumanutafa.
Steven Burns, 24, was booked for DUI, evading arrest, and auto theft, said
CHP Officer Wendy Hahn of the Newhall office. No injuries were reported.
Burns, on parole for vehicle theft, was driving a 1993 Saturn that was
reported stolen in Lancaster, Hahn said.

Sure, let's close our eyes and let this guy race down the highway
unchallenged.

Well, what's simple to most is overly complex for "Laura Bush Murdered
Her Boyfriend (aka Aunt Judy.)" In the event you haven't met Aunt Judy,
it's not an intelligent being. It can't tell the difference between "6"
& "60", nor can it find a company's logo on that company's web site
(Proctor and Gamble, if it matter).

> Might want to try that next time you decide to shoot yourself in the foot.

Shooting itself in the foot is the manner by which Aunt Judy trolls.

Seems unlikely with diesel fuel, which burns merrily and could thus
cause a secondary explosion after a load cooked off, but doesn't
readily explode under ambient temperature and pressure.

> This story sounds like a hoax.

I've heard of such things before (there was a successful example on, I
think, I-40 west of Albuquerque a few years ago), though the right
circumstances don't happen often, so the conventional approach of
getting the heck out of the way and letting the cops handle it is a lot
more common. I suppose the right circumstances would include knowing
it isn't a hostage situation.

Cheers,

I was watching a video of illegal street races in the US, and a bloke in
a BMW hot hatch tried to pass two truckers on the right in an emergency
lane. Naughty naughty. The trucker he was illegally passing
deliberately veered to the right and pushed the BMW off the road.
Nobody was hurt.

I can't condone either the truckers or the street racers actions, but
you could bet your arse that particular street racer won't use the
emergency lane to pass a truck again.

Cops arrived, the trucker was long gone, the street racer was fined for
his maneuver.

I wonder who's going to pay for the clean up of the diesel fuel? It's very
expensive and I'll bet it'll cost over a couple of thousand.
