Default Swivelling boot badge on pre facelift 156

Anybody got experience of replacing one of these? Mine's in a bit of
a sorry state so I'm thinking of replacing it. Is it just a case of
carefully prising the old one out and pushing a new one in or is it more
complicated than that, removing boot lid inner lining etc...?

ISTR it involves removing the whole assembly from inside the boot lid.

They're also not cheap from a main dealer.

Agreed on both counts - plus it's a real fiddle that involves banging your
head several times on the inside of the boot-lid and at least one of those
times will involve driving the mechanism into your forehead

Thanks guys. Sounds like real fun.... but I'm so peed off (the badge looks
as though it has water in it...) every time I go to the boot I might yet
go in for a spot of wallet and cranial crucifixion.

Yup, it's a tricky & fiddly job, but don't be put off, it's do-able. Some
tips:

1) Buy the 2 special security bolts from an Alfa dealer. They only cost a
few quid. The heads shear off when they reach the correct torque.

2) Stuff rags into the voids between the bootlid outer skin & inner
structure. Otherwise you'll lose crucial small parts and waste time fishing
them out, like I did. You'll see what I mean when you take off the inner
bootlid trim.

You may be able to get a badge via eBay. I bought one "just in case" for a
tenner, which should have guaranteed that the badge wouldn't get vandalised,
but sadly it did.
