Default Alfa 156 Electric Window Switches

This is my first post to this group, though I've been reading posts
here for some time - in fact, it was advice here a few weeks ago that
prompted me to change the timing belt earlier than recommended in the
manual.

Anyway, i'm slightly embarrased as I have a rather trivial question,
but here goes:

I have an alfa 156 2.0 TS, 2001 vintage, and one of the electric
window switches in the cluster of 4 on the driver's door has come off
- flew out actually, as I was using it (it's the switch for the
drivers window - the one that gets 90% of the use). One of the little
plastic pins that it rocks on has snapped, and it doesn't look
repairable. Does anyone know if it's possible to safely lever out
these switches - I have no doubt a new unit will be costly, and I
never use the switches for the back windows, so i have ideas about
using one of these switches to replace the broken one.

Any advice much appreciated.

On mine there's a screw underneath the plastic covering in the base of the
little "cubby hole" just to the rear of the switches. This lets you lift out
the 4 switches then the individual switches are easily accessible.

hello guys,

In a related question, my newly purchased 9 year old 156 had a faulty
passenger side electric window mechanism. I replaced the motor/slider
and clip assembly but that broke soon afterwards. (specifically the
clip) Is this a known fault?
any information gratefully received. ps: removing the switch mechanism
is easy.....the rest of it was the nightmare!
