Default Knackered CD player

The CD player headunit in my 2003 156 JTD has become a cropper...

There is a disc in the player but it refuses to play it or eject it. When
selecting CD it says on the screen 'NO CD'

Any ideas of how to get this fixed or is it a dealer job? Its still under
warranty so will the dealer recognise this as a warranty job?

How cold is it in your motor? Is the CD scratched? My old Blaupunkt
used to do this all the time. Now have a nice Pioneer. Shame about
the speakers *yeesh*.

It was the cold snap we had in the UK a few weeks ago that did the damage.
The problem is that I cannto EJECT the CD in there at the moment so cannot
play any other CD's

Unfortunately for you, my resolution was this. I took the 156 back to
where I bought it. Their mech got into my car and jabbed the EJECT
button. After 3 weeks of it being stuck (even checked on the way
there) the bloody thing worked; out came my stuck CD. He tutted about
the CD being scratched and he knew this was "bad" as he was a
part-time DJ.

Clearly you need someone in possession of magic fingers.

(comptemplating a new motor; new-shape 156 or explore a 147?)

Just a thought, have you tried using the hair dryer to loosen things up?
Then again if you have driven around with the heater on, that should
have done the trick. I'm out of ideas now.

I've sometimes taken CDs out of the player and damn near burnt my fingers!
