Ah, yes. I recall them well. Quite nice.I just prefer, after Mustangs,
of course, the 65/66 Fairlane 500.

Yup, I drooled today! Someone in our community has a beautiful silver
1963 split window Corvette coupe. Way back in 1962 when I was in USAF
basic training, I decided when I got home I'd purchase 1 1963 split
window Corvette, but my mother convinced me that I should purchase a
more sensible car. So, I purchased a new 1963 Chev Impala with a 409
engine. Damn, that was fun!
I still have the window sticker for that car.
After awhile I purchased a few more very mundane "family" type Chevs
before I became a Ford guy.
My only fun car now is a 1984 Capri RS 5.0, but if I ever see a maroon
1963 Chev with the 409 badges that would be a super drool!

While I'm not really a Chevy guy, I did sleep in a Holiday Inn, or, I
saw something on TV that I did not know before, that not all 409s are
equal. Those 409 badges get my blood going for sure!

Hi Gill,
Back in 1963 there were three 409 options; the 340HP hydraulic lifter
with 1 4bbl carb, the 400HP solid lifter with 1 4bbl carb, and the 425HP
solid lifter with 2 4bbl carbs. I had the 340 version with the close
ratio 4 speed (2:20 first gear and a 3:70 positraction rear). I was all
done shifting at 70MPH, but that car sure got there fast!
Oh, memories.

I recall when I was stationed at McChord AFB (WA) and driving a 65
Mustang FB, one of my buds bought a 69 Firebird 400, with the scoops
on the leading edge of the hood. The first time I rode in it he hit
the gas and it felt like my check ride in an F4. Mashed down in the
seat and sucking for air. :0)

Where in MN. I went to Rosemont HS when my dad was an activer duty
instructor for weekend warriors at Minneapolis-St Paul IAP. it was
cold!

Rosemount? Yes we're located just a few miles West in Apple Valley.
My granddaughter just graduated from Rosemount high.
Cold, sometimes, but spring, summer, and fall are very nice. Winter
is the time when we bail out and go to South Carolina for a break.

We got there right at the height of summer, and, surprisingly, it was
quite muggy compared to Florida where we moved from the Gulf Coast....

We moved from MN back home to CA where it's hot and dry. :0)
