Hi,
Yes battery under the seat. He has a german audi specialist looking
at it apparently. I will leave it in their hands. Thanks for you
ideas.

Default 1994 Audi A6 5cylinder petrol 2.3L

The Audis of this era are very subject to corrosion of electrical
parts, including the ignition.

Check the low voltage connection at the distributor. Also the pigtail
connector of the hall sensor at the flywheel starter teeth. I have
seen these green with corrosion on a no-start 84 5000T
