Default 83 prelude flat spot

Hi I am a newbie and b4 anyone calls me stupid let me say when it
comes to cars I am stupid. I have a strange problem with my lude. When
I suddenly accelerate car takes off but when I reduce the speed I get
some weird problem where the car wants to stall or something. It seems
to miss a beat and I have to keep the revs up to stop it from
stalling. If I leave the car a while the problem goes until I put my
foot down again..

Has anyone experienced anything like this.

check for vacuum leaks from the brake servo and all the carb
ancillaries. also check the carbs. i've seen problems like this where
the float level had been set wrong after a carb rebuild and the engine
was getting fuel dumped through a chamber vent on the g-force of
braking. do /not/ assume this is likely, but if you've checked
everything and the carbs look like they've been "serviced" or rebuilt,
they are a candidate.
