Default 1985 Corvettes reliability?

Knowing that the 1985 Corvette was the first to use the LT1 engine, I am
wondering if owners of this model have experienced
higher than usual repair related issues? Is it a good idea to purchase a
used one that has high mileage? say in excess of 140000 miles?

I believe the engine in '85 was a L96 Tuned Port Injection.
I had one for about 9 years, 80,000 miles and there were many problems,
though the engine had only two: failed ignition (there was a recall on the
system afterward), and blown head gasket (apparently chronic with that
engine). I would encourage you to get a newer model. The C4 evolved into a
fine car, but the early years were troublesome.

First year of Tuned Port Injection and a pretty good year for
robustness. I had one and drove it to almost 200K. If you buy one with
high mileage you are looking at suspension rebuild and if you do not
have a press you are going to pay to get that done. If you do it
yourself you are only out parts and the alignment. Brakes are pretty
cheap as the rotors are around $50 each. Interior is going to be
expensive if it it trashed. Get one of the catalogs and price what has
to be replaced before you purchase the car.

The 1985 is the first year of the Tuned Port and as such it is the last
year with the two piece rear main and normal heads. Thus, the
aftermarket parts are excellent so I liked mine. Many parts are
available for less money than the 1986 on up...

Is it easy to find a set of used Head Lamp?? and I mean both?? How much do
they run at on those
'85 vettes?

Is it true that you can't get the car certified if you buy one that has
both lamps faulty (ie. up/down motor won't work) but the lamp itself will
light up.
