That has nothing to do with the utter stupidity of using our food for
fuel when there are better options available.

Sugar beets will not be as good as sugar cane. What makes sugar cane
ethanol work so well is that another part of the plant fuels the process
to make the ethanol. This way the energy is 100% gain, as opposed to an
energy loss with corn ethanol.

There's nothing stupid about what they do from their point of view. If
you haven't noticed those in congress and those close to congress keep
getting more wealthy and gaining more power. Nothing stupid about it wrt
their personal gain.

Well, we use oil (fuel) -- in fertilizer -- to feed our corn, go figure that.

Want another one? How 'bout feeding corn to cows? Cows don't eat corn, it makes them sick. Cows eat grass.

So more than half the stuff we use corn for -- to feed cows and to make high fructose corn syrup for cheap-ass food products -- we don't need.

No experience with sugar beets other than folk saying they used them to
'brew' ethanol during WWII to run their vehicles. I know sugar cane works.

Right now I'm playing with duel fuel gas/CNG and diesel/CNG conversions.

nonsense.

Anyone who thinks ethanol, from whatever source is FREE or cheap is
INSANE and CLUELESS about the energy USED to produce it.

That's true, there's no question that it's not just individual
stupidity, many of them are quite bright individually. But
collectively they are as dumb as a bag of rocks. Rather then get this
country on track to come up from being number 24 in the world in
education, they just have endless fights over whether evolution or
creationism should be taught in schools. Or trying to control women's
bodies, and on and on with their pet idiotic views of things that they
want to institutionalize.
