The semi-skimmed one with 180bhp peaks with 235Nm between 1950 and 4700
rpm.

Full fat 240bhp peaks with 320Nm between 2300rpm and 5000 rpm.

Quite a lot higher, and quite a large range then

A fair bit higher, I suppose - but that VW 1.8T engine originated in the
early to mid 90s - I'd expect a brand new engine design to have moved
things on a bit.

Not a misprint... It uses "scavenging technology" apparently? Something to
do with opening the exhaust valves earlier at low rpm so the combustion
helps spin the turbo with more vigour.
The Giulietta QV has 340Nm (and 235BHP) at a slightly higher 1900rpm.
Apparently it has the highest torque per cubic capacity of any production
car at present.

I took the 1750 above from the Alfa-Romeo.co.uk site. The JTS info came from
Wiki p didi.

That will lose power though. It's all too complex for me.

Cool. Glad they still do something right.
