Bore wear or top end?

Depends on why the conrod made a bid for freedom really. You might find
that the head, valvetrain and so on might be worth saving, but quite
possibly not. I *really* doubt anything at the bottom end would be worth
it.

As ever ISTBC.

Default Blown Engine - 1984 GTV

Now that the rear calipers are functional, I move onto the next item, of
which there are many (or it wouldn't be an alfa, now would it).

My now ex-girlfriend was driving my gtv when I had a company car. Little
petal didn't put any oil in it, so a conrod is now peaking out the side of
the case. Local alfa specialist sells me a 'good' engine. Turns out is
blows lots of oil (unlike the old one), but is the only one I could find.
So now the car is running, but likely to need major overhaul at some stage
in the future.

My question is this. Given the blown engine was much better, is there
likely to be any items I should salvage off it and keep for when I do the
major rebuild of the 'new' engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My current girlfriend would like to park her in the garage, but this would
involve moving the engine.

Cheers Ian
