Default Ground Wire Location 1999 Jeep Wrangler

Like many of these I have read before, my blower motor quit working
and has 12V to the connector and I replaced the blower motor as a
precaution. I have pulled off the dash and seen only one braded ground
that went to directly to the radio. I could not locate any other
ground wire. Can anyone tell me exactly where the right side panel
ground is located?
Regards,
Mike

You are dealing with a Recall!

A Recall means the $tealership 'has' to fix it for FREE!

The 'two' groundstraps that are under recall are bolted to the back of
the instrument cluster, not the heater. This means the whole instrument
cluster has to come out to get at them.

I have also heard of the power plug to the heater burning out on the
harness side.

Recall 99V117000: Instrument Panel Ground Screws Loose

The left side and right side instrument panel wiring ground attachment
screws could loosen over time. If the left side screw loosens, the
instrument panel gauges may not function when the headlamps are turned
on. If the right side screw loosens, the defroster blower motor may
not function.

Dealers will remove the ground screws, drill a new pilot hole adjacent
to the original hole, and the screws will be reinstalled in the new
holes.

Owner notification began May 31, 1999. Owners who take their vehicles
to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not
receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact
Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997. Also contact the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT
(1-888-327-4236).

Hey mike would that recall make it so that my fan switch would only
work on low and high only on my 99 wrangler?

That is odd and more likely one of the defective switches or maybe a bad
resistor pack. The switch itself 'can' be ordered from DC, you do not
have to buy the whole cluster like some parts guys want to sell you. It
is cheap, but you need to have the Jeep with you so you can try the
replacement out. Apparently most of the replacements don't even work
right out of the box, it takes several tries to find a good one.

Meanwhile why don't you just call your local $tealership and have your
name registered as the current owner so they will send you all the
recall notices for the free fixes. There are 5 that 'might' apply for
your 99.
